Oranges washed very well with hot water and vinegar, cut into thin slices. They are placed in a heat-resistant tray, sprinkle the 100 g of caramelized caster sugar and walnut kernels, then place the tray in the preheated oven for approx. 10 minutes, at 160 degrees, until the oranges and walnut kernels are caramelized.

Meanwhile, in a tall bowl, mix the eggs with the sugar, the mix of ginger and oranges, the rose water, the vanilla essence and mix until a whitish and voluminous cream is obtained. The more the dough is mixed, the fluffier it will be. Melted butter and a little cooled add to the egg cream, mixing gently until incorporated, then add the sifted flour, stirring gently from bottom to top until smooth.

Remove the tray with the caramelized oranges from the oven, be careful if the oranges are too juicy, drain the obtained juice and put the tray back in the oven until the slices turn golden.

The dough obtained is poured over the oranges and caramelized walnuts, the tray is shaken, so that the dough settles well, then it is baked for approx. 30 minutes at 180 degrees. After passing the toothpick test, the cake is removed from the oven, then hot, to overturn on a plate, larger than the diameter of the tray. Be careful, place the plate on top of the tray, hold it tightly with both hands, protect your hands with gloves or a kitchen towel, then suddenly turn the tray over on the plate, lift the tray slightly, then let the cake cool completely. Before serving, powder with powdered sugar. Good luck and good luck!

Overturned cake with citrus

What better way to celebrate winter than fast approaching cake? Ok, maybe we don't need winter to bake a cake is something that can be done in any season. But winter is a holiday season and we can be sincere sincere & hellip the holidays are an opportunity to set ourselves free and pamper ourselves with whatever culinary desires we have. So it's cake season!

Today I had a craving of something sweet and my first thought was to run to the supermarket. But, as it was a rather relaxed and free Saturday, I stopped the first impulse and decided on an overturned cake with CITRUs.

It turned out so delicious that I decided to share the recipe with you. Honestly, the cake didn't catch the next day. But I admit that I had some help with both cooking and eating! & # 128578

Thinking about the cake toppings I could use, I decided on mandarins. First of all, because I am one of the my favorite fruits.

Secondly, because they are fruits suitable for the season. Nothing evokes the winter atmosphere as well as the smell of freshly peeled citrus they are, of course, a traditional & ldquocadou & rdquo for carolers in Christmas period! I know it's a little too early for that, but I think it's never too early to get into the holiday season! & # 128521

I think you will love this citrus cake! I'm quite happy with the results, I really think it's one of the best cakes I've made this year!

I managed a texture so fluffy that it simply melts in your mouth. And the slices of caramelized mandarins look so beautiful and give such a good aroma to the cake! Believe me, tasting this cake is a celebration in itself!

The overturned cake, at least for me, is one of the most beautiful cakes. The fruits scattered on top form a truly enchanting mosaic-like pattern. It looks like we are looking through a kaleidoscope, and the vivid color of the mandarins will give this cake a really fun and interesting look.

But what exactly do we know about the overturned cake? The name comes from the fact that, when we prepare them, we place the fruits on the bottom of the baking tin and add the top on top.

So, while it is inside the oven, the cake is "upside down". When everything is ready, we take it out and the bottom becomes the top & ndash the fruits will reach the top of the cake!

You may be wondering what is the reason for this preparation. Well, it's not just for fun, but there's actually a good reason to do it. It is due to the fact that at the time this cake was invented, it was prepared directly over the fire, but not in the oven!

The overturned cake has actually been among us for hundreds of years! Thus, this method of preparation was a clever way to get a beautiful-looking top with tasty caramelized fruits. This is why they had to put the fruit, sugar and oil / butter on the bottom of the pan over the fire.

After the cake was fully prepared, the top that didn't look very interesting was turned upside down & ndash resulting in a delicious cake with an impressive look!

But it wasn't until the early 20th century that the overturned cake became a hit. And we owe that & hellip to the one who invented canned pineapple! In 1901, Dole invented a machine that could cut pineapple into perfect rings that could then be canned. Quickly, one of the most popular ways to use pineapple rings was to turn the cakes upside down!

That is why, traditionally, the overturned cake is made with pineapple rings. Ah, and did you know that there is even a national day of the pineapple overturned cake & ndash April 20!

Sounds fun, doesn't it? Here are some tips to make the cake look perfect:

  • Peel the mandarins very well so as not to become bitter
  • Use a removable cake tin so you can easily peel off the bottom without spoiling the beautiful tangerine slices.
  • While the cake is still in the oven, use a toothpick in the center of the cake to check if it is ready. It should come out mostly clean, with no traces of unmade dough

I hope you have fun preparing and eating this cake & ndash I definitely did! I look forward to reading your comments and finding out what the result was!

Then pour into the pan, over the oranges and put the pan in the oven.
Bake for about 50 minutes then do the toothpick test. If the cake is not baked, leave it for a few more minutes.
Remove the tray from the oven, let the cake cool for 15 minutes then turn it over on a plate.
